How we build it, and what each part does.

What you are actually buying

Channel letters are built one letter at a time: an aluminum return bent to the shape of the letter, LED modules inside, and a translucent acrylic face held on with trim cap. Lit from inside, they stay readable when the sun goes down and the street gets busy.

Most landlords and towns prefer them to a big box sign, and they photograph well, which matters when customers find you on a map listing before they find your door.

Ways to build it

Same sign type, different decisions. We will walk through these with you before anything is drawn.

  • Front-litLight comes through the acrylic face. The classic bright storefront look.
  • Back-lit (halo)Face is solid, light spills onto the wall behind. Quieter and more upscale.
  • Raceway mountLetters sit on a painted box that carries the wiring. Easier on a landlord.
  • Flush mountLetters go straight onto the wall, wiring hidden behind it.

Questions we get about channel letters

Do channel letters need a permit?

Almost always, yes. We draw the sign on a photo of your building and file with your town, village or the NYC Department of Buildings.

How bright are they at night?

Bright enough to read across four lanes. We pick LED spacing for the depth of the letter so there are no dark spots or hot spots.

Can you match my logo exactly?

Yes. We work from your artwork and match brand colors in the acrylic and the vinyl.
