A sign shop, not a middleman

Signs X-Press Plus designs, permits, builds and installs signs from one shop on South Main Street in Freeport. Nothing gets handed to a third party and nothing gets lost in between.

One team from first measurement to final bolt

Sign projects usually fail in the handoffs: a designer who never saw the building, a permit runner who never read the drawing, an installer who turns up with the wrong bracket. We do all of it ourselves.

  • 15kinds of sign built in-house, from ADA plaques to pylons
  • 135recent jobs photographed for the gallery on this site
  • 7counties and boroughs we install in every week
  • 1team doing the drawing, the permit, the build and the install

How a job actually goes

We measure your facade, photograph it, and draw the sign on your own building so you can see the real thing before you buy it. If the landlord or the town needs to approve something, that drawing is what they approve.

Then we file the permit. This is the part that takes the longest and the part most people underestimate. Every village has its own rules and the NYC Department of Buildings has its own process again.

Letters, cabinets, awning frames, carved panels and prints are built here in Freeport. If a color is wrong or a layout needs a nudge, we walk ten feet and fix it rather than emailing a factory.

Our own crew installs it with our own bucket trucks, wires it up and cleans the sidewalk. One company, one phone number, one person to call if an LED fails in two years.

From survey to switched on1Survey2Drawing3Permit4Build5InstallThe permit is usually the long part. We file it, chase it and schedule around it.

The five stages of every job, in order.

Who we build for

Some jobs are a single room sign. Some are a storefront, a monument sign and twelve vans in the same month.

A business without a sign is a sign of no business.

An old saying in the sign trade

A good sign keeps working after you lock the door. Lit letters and light boxes tell every driver on the avenue who you are, long after the lunch rush.
