A softer kind of illuminated sign

Backlit and halo-lit letters

Letters that glow around the edge instead of through the face. The look restaurants, bars and professional offices ask for.

How we build it, and what each part does.

What you are actually buying

A halo-lit letter has a solid face, usually painted aluminum or acrylic, with LEDs behind it throwing light onto the wall. You read the letter as a silhouette inside a soft glow. It is quieter than a front-lit sign and tends to look more expensive, because it is.

The wall matters here: a light, flat surface bounces the glow nicely, while dark brick swallows it. We will tell you honestly which your building is before you spend money on it.

Questions we get about backlit & halo letters

Will it work on dark brick?

It can, but the glow is weaker. We often add a light-colored backer panel so the halo has something to bounce off.

Is it dimmer than a front-lit sign?

It reads differently rather than dimmer. For a sign that must shout from a highway, front-lit wins.
